NCT's New Lightstick Photos Stir Up Massive Debate Among Netizens — Here's Why

When it comes to the most iconic and recognizable lightsticks in K-Pop, everyone knows NCT‘s bright green lightstick. Yet, netizens are heavily divided after alleged photos of the new group lightstick were shared online.

Photos have been circulating of what many believe is the new NCT lightstick, and unlike the old version, it seems like it can be customized depending on the subunit.

It looks very different from the original version, with the head being lighter and more transparent, and the stick being more curved.

Member Confirmation and Fan Reactions

Taking NCT DREAM, photos were shared of how the lightstick could be customized. While some of the previews looked magic, an OG picture of the design of the lightstick in reality seemed to be very different, but it could've been during a very early design process.

While netizens were unsure of the legitimacy of the designs, member YangYang seemingly confirmed the new lightstick in a message to fans, where he wrote, "Oh? Our new lightstick is out?"

Strong Netizens' Reactions

When the design was shared online, it sparked strong reactions from netizens. Although the idea of customizing the lightstick for each subunit seemed like a nice idea, netizens had extremely mixed reactions to the new design.

While some thought it was cute, especially with the concept photo of it customized, many seemed to prefer the old design, and shared how they thought the new lightstick look was "ugly."

While it hasn't been confirmed directly by SM Entertainment, it has created a buzz online. Lightsticks are always going to be important, and it will be hard for fans to see such an iconic design changed after years since the first version was released.
