Review: SISTAR Continue Their Trend Toward Bright Summer Dance Songs On 'Shake It' [VIDEO]

SISTAR is back, with another upbeat summer song.

Since the K-pop girl group first broke with "So Cool" in 2011, the quartet has always dominated the summer season by releasing new, addictive dance tracks.

"Shake It," released on Monday on an EP bearing the same name, is SISTAR's latest summer submission and it adds some interesting new textures to SISTAR's usual mix.

With high pitched crooning from the members and an ample amount of "nah nah nah"s, "Shake It" keeps to the typical SISTAR summer song formula, but offers a more eclectic sound than the group's previous offerings like 2014's "Touch My Body" or "I Swear."

Familiar sounds, such as Hyorin's strong, breathy vocals are apparent as usual in SISTAR songs, but that's not all that's new on "Shake It."

Kicking off with a retro vibe, the latest SISTAR single makes use of brass sounds, funk guitar and a clapping beat to diversify it from much of the girl group's previous material before returning to their more distinctive style. SISTAR member Bora is prominently featured, delivering a lengthy rap and differentiating "Shake It" from many other SISTAR title songs. It also gives the underutilized rapper a chance to shine.

The highlight of "Shake It," like so many other SISTAR summer songs, is the dance-inspiring chorus, which offers the quartet a way to show off some brand new, but not entirely unfamiliar, dance moves.

Turn the stereo up and break out the lemonade. Summer is here!
