MAMA 2016 recorded to have the least ratings out of all MAMA shows. The recent MAMA 2016 was reported to only have more than 1% of ratings.

According to Allkpop, Nielsen Korea reported that MAMA's average ratings were 1.2% for all three parts this year. The first part had a 1.15% average while the 2nd part had 1.39%, and the last part only garnered 1.10%. They also reported that MAMA's target audience, 20-49, only recorded very low 1% of ratings throughout the show.

Many are saying that it might be because this year, there was no YG Entertainment artists present to spice up the show. Several K-pop fans are saying that it is mostly Big Bang that gets ratings for MAMA. People are also saying that MAMA is already decreasing its quality each year and the only artists that people want to watch is Big Bang.

Moreover, people are saying that the charisma on stage of Big Bang cannot be compared to other groups. Their stage presence is just unreachable that is why people love to watch them on stage and live.

However, there are also people saying that the MAMA staffs are not really doing much for the other idol groups' performance. Their camera angles, microphones and stages looked like they weren't prepared beforehand. Like with EXO's performance, their fans are saying that everything is taken from their EXO'rdium concert.

Also, fans of other groups are saying that the performances were only like what they watch on weekly music charts shows. Nothing special and nothing is that different.

Furthermore, not much groups were invited like other boy groups who released songs like Beast, BAP and BtoB, who are amazing on stages. The same goes for girl groups like Mamamoo, who could have brought something different to the table.

Also, there are incidents where groups' names are wrongly places. Like during this year, Day 6's name was Day 8 on the screen, also, GOT7's Jackson's name was spelt wrongly. Fans were mad that MAMA staff did not double-check.

Whatever the reason is, MNET should definitely step up their game when it comes to MAMA. They are losing huge credibility each year and fans are getting tired of their unprofessionalism.
