2PM’s Ok Taecyeon, SNSD’s Yoona top the chart as the most popular K-Pop idol in TV Drama during 2016
The year of 2016 recorded many K-Pop idols jumpstarted their acting career . In order to measure their success, Korean polling site Moolmang created polling to determine the most popular K-Pop idol in TV drama throughout the 2016. The result show Ok Taecyeon and Yoona top the polling among other idols.
The 27-year old tops the list among the male idols with a big lead of 26 percent, or equal to 3,242 votes in the Moolmang list. His acting in the tvN drama comedy drama “Hey Ghost, Let's Fight” has given him a substansial lead from the second place the B14A member Jinyoung in “Love in the Moonlight” drama. Jinyoung is only able to gain one thousand less than Taecyeon with 18 percent.
Sitting on third position is Taecyeon’s band mate Lee-Joon, winning 17. 1 percent with 2,128 votes in the tvN drama “Memory.” While SHinee’s Kibum and
EXO’s Baekhyun is on the 4th and 5th place respectively. Kibum in his debut drama “Drinking Solo” won 1,247 votes, while Baekhyun in “Moon Lover: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” tallied 1,195 votes.
For the female idol, Yoona with her performance in “The K2” won the first place with 23.5 percent and 3,178 votes. With a narrow margin, KARA’s Heo Young-Ji took second place with 3,048 votes through her performance from tvN drama “Another Miss Oh.” While Miss A’s Suzy in the “Uncontrollably Fond” secured 9.4 percent votes in third place, followed by After School’s Nana and IU in fourth and fifth position.
Taecyeon seems to have been more immersed in his acting project. Recently he is filming the new movie with a working title “House Above Time” as reported by Seoul Daily News. This will be his last project before joining the army in January next year. He has been a model citizen for Korean people for his patriotism, because he choose to drop his American permanent resident status to pledge allegiance to Korea.
That may also become the determining factor to make people vote for Taecyeon. But the drama “Hey Ghost, Let's Fight” is considered a good one as can be seen below:
