Weki Meki’s Awaited Comeback is Happening This May

Ki-Lings, rejoice!

Seven months since their last musical offering, K-pop girl group Weki Meki is set to return to the music scene next month.

According to a source from their talent agency, Fantagio Entertainment, the octet will be "releasing a new album in May."

"We ask everyone to show interest and look forward to it," the source added.

Their-long anticipated comeback is reported to feature a revamped image of members Suyeon, Elly, Yoojung, Doyeon, Sei, Lua, Rina, and Lucy. From their "teen crush" vibes, fans can expect an upgrade on their sound and overall look while maintaining the powerful choreography they are known for.

Earlier in January, the ladies have graced the cover of 10Star, a publication under 10 Asia. In an interview with the Korean media company, Weki Meki unveiled their goals as a group and as individuals for the year.

Apart from hoping to find more success this 2019, Lua spoke on behalf of her group, hoping that each member can have the chance to showcase their own charms and personalities - despite plans for them to have a specific image.

Besides music-related activities, the Weki Meki gals aim to indulge in other leisurely hobbies more, like reading, watching movies, and even keeping a diary.

Weki Meki's last release was their first full-length album, "Kiss, Kicks." Released in October of last year, the record included the lead single "Crush."

The eight-piece K-pop group first debuted in August 2017. Their debut project was the mini-album "WEME," whose carrier track "I Don't Like Your Girlfriend" peaked at No. 7 on the Gaon Weekly Album Chart.

Proving they are worthy of a spot in the lucrative Korean music industry, the said effort was hailed as the highest selling album released by a rookie girl group in the said year.

In 2018, Weki Meki received an accolade from Brand Awards, being hailed as "The Most Anticipated Star of 2019." During the same year, they were also acknowledged at the Korean Culture Entertainment Awards after they bagged the "K-pop Singer" tilt.

Before they were launched as a girl group, other members were already part of other musical projects. Doyeon, Yoojung, and Elly took part in the pilot season of Produce 101. Lua and Lucy - together with the aforementioned three members - had a stint as the girl group i-Teen Girls.
