Chung Ha, Named as This Year’s JTBC Seoul Marathon Ambassador

Now on its 20th year, the JTBC Seoul Marathon is getting bigger than ever. And this 2019, the people behind this annual footrace have tapped K-pop star Chung Ha to help boost anticipation for the event.

Chung Ha, a reality show alumna-turned-soloist, is the musical femme fetale behind the hits “Gotta Go” and “Snapping.” Rallying behind her career is a league of fans from across the globe, the majority of which have first known her since her stint in Produce 101 and the now-disbanded girl group I.O.I.

On August 5, the marathon’s official poster was unveiled with a fierce Chung Ha gracing the said promotional material.

The event organizer choosing the singer-songwriter, now 23 years old, as their ambassador coincides with their goal of targeting younger participants — particularly those in their 20s and 30s.

The JTBC Seoul Marathon is a prestigious event among running enthusiasts, with veterans and strong-willed first-time participants aiming to finish the 42.195-kilometer full-course elite and masters category.

The event is also opening a 10-kilometer category and a special wheelchair course to attract more attendees. The former, in particular, is being used to encourage those in the younger populace to participate in such an event.

This year’s edition of the JTBC Seoul Marathon is scheduled on November 3 at 8 a.m. More details on how to join will be available on the website beginning August 13.

Chung Ha’s participation in the said marathon comes after her extensive series of promotions for her most recent EP, “Flourishing.”

In this particular effort, the multi-hyphenate showed off her producing and composing skills, and tried her best to come up with an innovative and highly creative record.

In a previous interview, she revealed that her
“goal for this album is that it should be something that can get her closer to the public.”

Apart from her EP, she also lent her intoxicating vocal prowess to record one of the soundtracks of the hit tvN drama, “Hotel Del Luna.”

She was also one of the K-pop artists who were tapped for the audio book-for-a-cause project by EBS called “Idol Book.” To be distributed under Genie Music, part of the proceeds of this undertaking will be handed out to the less fortunate Korean youth.
