BoA Looks ‘Displeased’ After Being Called ‘Mother’ — but Her Reaction After Finding What It Means Is Taking Over Internet!

On X, a video of BoA being confused after she was called "Mother" by fans resurfaced among K-pop enthusiasts.

On May 16, the X account of About Music brought back a snippet from BoA's live broadcast where she was seen communicating with her fans, Jumping BoAs.

The clip was from a year ago, however, a certain part belatedly went viral among K-pop stans and it is the time when BoA looks confused for getting a lot of comments addressing her as "Mother."

As a brief background, the K-pop scene adopted the queer term, "Mother," to show a high form of respect and praise for female artists who are considered the most powerful and influential among personalities in their field.

However, not knowing this yet, BoA looked confused and rather, displeased as she vented out:

"But why are you calling me mother? I don't have any children. Are you trolling me by calling me mother or what? Someone answer me."

Feeling teased, she continued:

"That's right. Why are you calling me mother? Am I your mother? Haha."

Among her fans, she then turned to international Jumping BoAs and asked:

"Why do foreign fans call me mother? Why am I your mother?"

After being confused for a long time, fans finally gave her the answer and processed what she had learned, she felt relieved and laughed at her cluelessness.

However, she humbly refuted this title and said:

"Oh, I'm the mother of K-pop? But no, there are many mother of K-pop from the older generation."

As of writing, the video amassed about 800k views with about 30k likes. In the quotes section, K-pop fans, aside from her fans couldn't believe how humble she is and insisted that she's the real "Mother of K-pop" that they know and acknowledge.

Among first-gen K-pop idols, she not only spread the impact of the music genre in Korea and Japan, but she also made sure to leave the path wide open for the next generation to come. Also, she's one of the few icons who remained for more than two decades in the music scene & stay relevant.

Without her growing SM Entertainment by herself, the junior artists that exist right now would not be here and other companies wouldn't have an "idol textbook" to follow as well.

On the other hand, some netters find it hilarious to see her reaction, apparently mistaking that her fans were implying that she's old and should have kids, prior to knowing what they really meant.
