‘The Following’ Season 3 Spoilers: Max And Mike’s Relationship Stronger? ‘Guessing Game’ On For Upcoming Season

"The Following" season 3 spoilers reveal that Max and Mike's relationship will only go stronger even if something "devastating" will test the couple. Meanwhile, the guessing game begins for what happens in the upcoming season.

Before leaving the showrunner post, Jennifer Johnson dished out "The Following" season 3 spoilers when she said that there's going to be a new villain but he or she won't make an appearance for a while.

"We're going to jump a year ahead. The main change is that the shark will be under the water so it may take a few episodes before you understand fully who that might be," she said, per Inside Pulse.

Executive producer Kevin Williamson added that they will introduce more mystery going into the third season.

"We got a mystery going this year, a mystery brewing about what's happening and what's not. Who's behind what. Who's doing what. Who's who. There's a big guessing game. It is a web of intrigue that all starts to become clear as it unfolds," he said.

Meanwhile, executive produer Marcos Siega revealed more "The Following" season 3 spoilers to BuddyTV when he revealed weighed in on Joe Carroll having survived season 2.

He said that only five people knew how the second season ended and the actor who played Joe Caroll didn't even know if his character will survive or not. In fact, there were two endings that were filmed-one in which he dies and another in which he survives.

On the decision not to kill off Joe Caroll, he said,

"I think there's a still bit of story to wrap up," he said. "In season 3, we need Joe for a very specific reason."

Jennifer Johnson said there's more story between Joe and Ryan that needs to play out.

"There's still so much more to mine between those two," she said.

Meanwhile, Jessica Stroup (Max Hardy) teased "The Following" season 3 spoilers to BuddyTV when she revealed what happens to her relationship with Mike (Sam Underwood).

"We're a year ahead, Mike and Max are very much still a couple, they're together. Mike however has been away for about four months," she said.

When Mike comes back, there's going to be some "really, really big things" that is going to happen between the two of them and "one of them is going to be devastating," although she said that everything will play out in the end.
