William Shatner Going Live for the Season Premiere of 'Hot in Cleveland'; Finally `Working With Someone Older Than Me’

William Shatner is going live on “Hot in Cleveland.” William Shatner, to go-to “Rocket Man,” will go live for his guest appearance on TV Land's "Hot in Cleveland" season premiere.

William Shatner, the former Captain Kirk, will beam onto the show as it airs live at 10 p.m. on the east coast on Wednesday, June 19. The west coast will get see the live-to-tape version three hours later.

Talking about Betty White, the star of "Hot in Cleveland," William Shatner joked, "At long, long last, I am working with someone who is older than me."

The “Hot in Cleveland” season premiere will open where the winter finale ended, Joy, who is played by Jane Leeves, just discovered what Elka, played by Betty White, and Mamie, portrayed by Georgia Engel, have been doing. There are no spoilers here, let’s just say it’s dangerous and illegal.

TV Land said, "There will be mobsters, mistaken identities, special guest stars, and twists and turns," in the premiere. Brian Baumgartner will also guest star in the live episode. Baumgarnter is best known for his role as Kevin Malone on "The Office."

William Shatner isn’t new to live performance. The man who boldly went “where no man has gone before” hosted Saturday Night Live and has an extensive theater career background. He debuted on Broadway in Marlowe's “Tamburlaine the Great” as well as such plays as “The World of Suzie Wong” and Shakespeare's “Henry V.” William Shatner also performed live on many programs during the “golden age of television.” Shatner played a Roman tax collector in Bethlehem on the day of Jesus' birth in a Hallmark Hall of Fame live television production of "The Christmas Tree." Shatner has since performed in just about everything. From “The Twilight Zone” to his star turns on “Star Trek,” “TJ Hooker” and most recently “$#!t My Father Says.”
