Tony Awards 2013 Performers: First-Time Tony Nominee Tom Hanks, ‘Kinky Boots’ Songwriter Cyndi Lauper To Appear On Broadway’s Biggest Night

Tony Awards 2013 is here and on June 9, Broadway’s most important night is coming from the Radio City Music Hall. Host Neil Patrick Harris and cast members from “Chicago,” “Pippin,” and other Broadways production rehearsed at the famed performance space Thursday, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Some of the performers and presenters appearing on Sunday night's live telecast includes Tony-actor nominee Tom Hanks for his performance in "Lucky Guy." Cyndi Lauper, who wrote the music and lyrics for Best Musical nominee "Kinky Boots" will also be appearing at the Tony's.

The 67th Annual Tony Awards, airing Sunday night is executive produced by Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner.

They described the event as an “adrenaline profession” involving hundreds of performers in just five weeks between the nominations and the ceremony.

This year’s opening number will include performers from the shows nominated this year – each show gets “four counts of eight” music bars, according to Diane Paulus, director of “Pippin.”

Four-time host, Neil Patrick Harris, told the Journal that this year’s opening will be a celebration of Broadway.

The American Theatre Wing writes that dozens of stage and screen stars will join the Emmy Award-winning host.

The list of stars announced as presenters or performers included Scarlett Johansson, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Jesse Eisenberg, Jon Cryer and Martha Plimpton.

This year, “Bring It On: The Musical,” “A Christmas Story, The Musical,” “Kinky Boots,” and “Matilda The Musical,” were nominated for the highly coveted Best Musical Tony.
