Katie Couric Show Faces Third-Season Cancellation: Sources Close To Television Host Deny CNN Rumors, Say She Has Deal With ABC

Rumors are swirling that the Katie Couric Show might face a third-season cancellation because of low ratings, but sources close to the television host are denying rumors that she's headed for CNN, saying she has a deal with ABC.

Sources close to Katie Couric told the New York Post that her daytime talk show might not make it to a third season because of ratings, but say rumors about her expected move to CNN are false and that she has been offered a deal by ABC.

Sources also told the New York Post that the departure of executive producer Jeff Zucker, who moved on to work at CNN last January, created a "very stressful" situation with "staffing weirdness" and "no one making decisions."

"The show was oversold at syndication and hasn't lived up to expectations," a source told the New York Post.

"Now everyone at ABC is gossiping that Katie will end up at CNN with Jeff."

Katie Couric's show launched in September 2012 and was available for syndication in most of the country, but a recent a recent Nielsen Media Research report showed that in mid-May, the show's ratings were down 30 percent from the same period last year, the Daily Mail reports.

While the show experienced high ratings and viewership at its inception, Katie Couric's show eventually became less popular among other daytime television shows, as ratings have shown.

"There wasn't a figure who could keep control. It became challenging because of the way that Jeff left," a source told the New York Post about the show's leadership.

 "There's been creative tension."
