Prince Harry Makes Surprise Appearance And Amazes Audiences At Helicopter Stunt Show

Prince Harry was a surprise guest as the annual RAF Cosford Air Show in England on Sunday. It was his first-ever appearance with the Royal Air Force's aerial-acrobatic helicopter show team.

The crowd was amazed to see the third-in-line to the British throne, Prince Harry, sitting front-seat co-pilot gunner in one of the helicopters as it rolled in the air, ABC News reports. Not only was it a shock to see 28-year-old Prince Harry at the show, but he wowed audiences with his helicopter stunts.

"That's Prince Harry flying," the announcer of the show told spectators.  "There you have Prince Harry demonstrating in front of you ..."

According to Today.com, at one point Harry's Apache was practically on its back during the stunt show.

The announcer also referred to Prince Harry as Captain Wales, Prince Harry's title in the British Army. He joined the army in May 2005 and quickly rose to the rank of Apache helicopter pilot. The British Defense ministry named Harry the best front-seat pilot, or co-pilot gunner, in February 2012, from his class of more than 20 other Apache helicopter pilots, according to ABC News.

Prince Harry served in Afghanistan and just returned in January from his five-month deployment.

The royal was also recently in the news for defending a former fellow infantryman from a homophobic attack. According to E! News, Lance Corporal James Wharton wrote in his new memoir Out in the Army about how Prince Harry reported the threats to senior officers and directly confronted the six soldiers.

Wharton said he was "on track for a battering by six soldiers."

After telling Harry what had happened, Wharton writes that "He said: 'Right. I'm going to sort this s--t out once and for all.

"He came back 10 minutes later and told me the problem had been 'sorted,'" Wharton said.
