'Final Fantasy Versus XIII' Reborn As 'Final Fantasy XV': Long Development Hell Readies The Game For PS4

During its pre-E3 conference today, Sony dropped the shocking news that "Final Fantasy Versus XIII" will not be rebranded as "Final Fantasy XV," most likely for the Playstation 4.

In addition to unveiling titles like "Kingdom Hearts 3," "The Order: 1886," and "Transistor," a special video message featuring "Final Fantasy Versus XIII" director Tetsuya Nomura was played to announce the news.

It has long been believed that "Versus XIII," with its 7-year development hell and lack of news, is dead, especially when fans noticed the title missing from the Square Enix line-up.

With Square Enix supposedly holding a pre-E3 presentation called "The Future of Final Fantasy," perhaps fans will get more news on that rebranding.

Other Square Enix titles are expected to make appearances at E3, including "Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII," "Kingdomg Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX," "Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster," and "Deux Ex: Human Revolution."

Check out the trailer for "Final Fantasy XV" here.
