iPhone 5S Release Date Withheld From WWDC 2013: iOS 7 Announcement Reveals Clues About Next-Gen iPhone

Although neither the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 made an appearance at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2013 keynote speech yesterday in San Francisco, Tim Cook's announcement and demonstration of iOS 7 revealed some clues abut the next-generation of iPhones.

The WWDC will continue until June 14, but a release date announcement for the iPhone 5S is considered unlikely.

iOS 7 has been the most exciting announcement of this years WWDC thus far, particularly because it gives Apple fans some clues about what to expect in the iPhone 5S.

One feature that will be improved through iOS 7 is Siri. Users will be able to control more aspects of their phone using the voice control, like screen brightness and Bluetooth.

The updated Siri will likely play an important role in the iPhone 5S, according to the US Daily Voice. The iPhone 5S will probably have improved microphones, to improve accuracy in the voice-controlled software.

Tim Cook also announced the development of iTunes Radio, a music streaming service, at the WWDC. iTunes Radio will prove to be stiff competition to current services like Pandora and Spotify because it's free. The iPhone 5S will likely feature improved speakers to complement iTunes Radio.

The iPhone 5S has been rumored to feature an upgraded camera. The rumors have been reinforced by the WWDC announcement that iOS 7 will offer new image features, like filters and panorama mode.

iOS 7 will also include 60 frames per second video capture. Apple is taking photography and video capture on its mobile devices more seriously as competition from Samsung and HTC increases. So, the iPhone 5S may come with an improved 13-megapixel camera.

Given that many of iOS 7's new features are aimed at multitasking, the iPhone 5S will require faster processing speeds. The iPhone 5S may include a powerful processing chip and an improved battery.

Tim Cook noted in his address that Apple had big releases planned for this fall, and as the company didn't announce a new iPhone at the conference, Apple likely has an iPhone launch up its sleeve in the next few months. In the past, Apple has released new versions of its software with a new iPhone.

Apple has announced that iOS 7 release date for the general public would be sometime this fall. The iPhone 5S will likely be released at around the same time.
