Adam 'Pacman' Jones Arrested On Assault Charges: NFL Star Claims Beer Bottle Blow To The Head Made Him Slap Cincinnati Woman

Following his arrest and being charged with assault for slapping a woman in the face outside of a downtown Cincinnati bar, NFL star Adam "Pacman" Jones claims his actions were that of self defense after taking a blow to the head with a beer bottle.

According to Sports World News, Peter Schaffer, Pacman's agent, said the altercation started just before midnight on June 5th when two women approached the Cincinnati Bengal to take a picture.  Jones' refused "because he's married and the last thing he wants is a picture with two women showing up on Twitter or something."

Jones' alleges he took the beer bottle blow to the face right after he rejected the request from the two ladies.

"He turns around and immediately slaps the person. He has no idea what's going on or who threw the bottle," Schaffer said. "His teammates have enough of this and they walk out."

Surveillance footage (below) shows the assault victim, Shannon Wesley, 34, pouring beer on Jones prior to being hit.

Arrested on Monday, Pacman, 29, took to Twitter to profess his innocence.

Jones was released on his own bail before the Tuesday afternoon arraignment on the assault rap.

USA Today reported that the athlete has had a series of run-ins with the law since entering the NFL, which include a January 2012 disorderly conduct charge and a 2007 strip club altercation.
