'Pretty Little Liars' Season 4 Episode 1 Recap: ''A' Is For A-L-I-V-E'' Reveals The Queen Of Hearts And A New Murder

ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars" starts season four right where we left them, gasping as they open the trunk of Hannah's family car. And things quickly continue to be unveiled in "A' is for A-l-i-v-e."

The trunk turns out to have a dead pig inside, and Mona grabs the hard drive storing Ashley running Detective Wilden over with the car before the quintet makes a run for it.

Mona reveals it was she who put the car in Hannah's garage, as well as a bit of history between Shauna, Jenna, and Melissa. As the Liars try to figure out Mona's allegiance, Mona agrees to take them to her hiding spot.

The final reveal before the title sequence is the death of Wilden, whose body is seen being investigated by the car, and they know now 'A' is trying to frame them for Wilden's murder.

At Mona's secret base, Mona shows the girls a video revealing the Queen of Hearts to be Wilden, working allegedly in conjunction with Melissa.

As the girls continue to question Mona's motives and whether Allison is alive, Emily and Hannah discover that Jessica DeLaurentis, Allison's mother, is moving back in town. Emily pays Mrs. DeLaurentis a visit and feels unsettled by all of Allison's belongings which her mother has refused to throw away.

Aria bumps into Ezra, and it is awkward. Ezra has been offered a permanent position at Aria's school and he is going to take it. Emily's relationship is on more solid ground when she and Paige decide to go to Stanford together.

Mona and Hannah attempt to rekindle their friendship with some much needed shop therapy, but things are still contrived and tense. Mona gives Hannah the hard drive, if only for their former friendship.

The Liars show up for Wilden's funeral, and Spencer is convinced something incriminating is inside the casket. They decide to find it before it's too late.

Spencer and Mona find the casket and discover Hannah's mother's phone. Is Ashley A's next target?

In a flashback, we discover Toby's mother suffered from memory problems, and Toby is forced to bring Mona's lair/trailer to an anonymous individual to discover what happened to her.

A new character, Detective Holbrook, is set to take over the investigation of Wilden's murder. The episode closes with the Liars plus Mona receiving a threat from 'A' and a video he/she captured of the quintet leaving Ashley's car after the fire.
