Pokemon X And Y Update: The New Pokedex As Revealed So Far

After a slew of updates from the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Nintendo's Pokemon X and Pokemon Y has revealed quite a number of the new Pokemon to be added to the Pokedex come October 12.

Here is the rundown of these Pokemon.

The starter Pokemon are Chespin (grass), Fennekin (fire), and Froakie (water), with their evolutions reportedly leaked but not yet confirmed on an official capacity. Following them are the panda Pokemon Pacham (fighting) and bird Pokemon Fletchling (flying/normal).

Fletchling's evolution is Talonflame (fire/flying), which was first shown during the E3 Q&A demo. As a flying Pokemon, it is capable of engaging in sky battles with other flying Pokemon.

Sylveon is one of the new fairy-type Pokemon and a new evolution of Eevee. Gogoat (grass) is a Pokemon which can be ridden by the player in certain parts of the world. Meanwhile, Helioptile is an electric/normal Pokemon first shown in CoroCoro last month who uses solar rays to generate electricity.

The moth-like Vivillon (bug/flying) is the first new Pokemon revealed to have a three-part evolution. The final form was shown during Nintendo Direct at E3, but the other two earlier forms have been revealed in CoroCoro this month, with its English names yet to be revealed.

The bat-like Noivern (flying/dragon) also made its introduction at Nintendo Direct, while Clauncher (water) the lobster and Skrelp (poison/water) were used in demo battles yesterday.

Two Pokemon who made their unofficial appearance in CoroCoro this month are the bear Pokemon Shishiko (fire/normal) and Furabebe (fairy), though their English names have yet to be revealed.

Finally, the legendary Pokemon for X and Y are Xerneas and Yveltal, though their type are currently unknown. In addition, a new form of Mewtwo will be featured in the upcoming Pokemon movie "Extremespeed Genesect: Mewtwo Awakens."

Currently, it is unknown how many new Pokemon will make up the X and Y Pokedex, nor if the games will be backwards compatible. Officially, several Pokemon from the older generations have been shown during gameplay footage, like Rhyhorn.
