`Man Of Steel' Opening Weekend Predictions At $100 Million, Expected To Set Records (Video)

The much-hyped and long anticipated “Man Of Steel” opening day set records, in spite of “Man of Steel” reviews, spoilers and the superhero hype. “Man Of Steel” opening weekend predictions put it in the $100 million range. “Man of Steel” cost about $225 million to produce.

“Man of Steel,” the third Superman franchise reboot from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, officially opens in North America at midnight. The studio says it is letting “only corporate group sales” participate in an earlier screenings at 7 PM.

“Man Of Steel” will go into wide release on Friday. It will open in America and in 24 foreign markets. It will play in 4,207 locations. The movie runs for two hours and 23 minutes, which is a little long for most blockbusters.

Fandango.com's Dave Karger predicted on the Today show, "I don't think 'Man of Steel' can approach what 'Iron Man' made in its first weekend, which was $175 million, but I think a $100 million opening for 'Man of Steel' is not out of the question at all."

“Man of Steel” stars Henry Cavill as Superman. There is a strong audience interest in the A-Team supporting cast, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Shannon

It was announced yesterday that Warner Bros. already launched production on a sequel to “Man of Steel” faster than a speeding bullet. Warner Bros. is so sure it’s got a hit with the new Superman clone, they started working on the follow-up.
