Billionaire Rupert Murdoch Divorces Third Wife Wendi Deng In Cheating Scandal

Billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch, 82, filed for divorce from his third wife, Wendi Deng Murdoch, after 14 years of marriage. But the split was not said to be amicable.

There were claims that Deng, 44, had an affair with former UK prime minister Tony Blair, 60, who happens to be godfather of the couple's two young daughters, Grace, 11, and Chloe, 9.

Blair, the former New Labor PM, denied the claim of an affair through a spokesman.

"If you are asking if they are having an affair, the answer is no," Blair's rep told The Hollywood Reporter. The spokesman stressed that there never has been any such affair.

There are many questions that are swirling around the unexpected divorce, and those interested in the story, want answers. Here are a couple of key elements related to the pending divorce. Firstly, there is a pre-nuptial agreement between Deng and Murdock, the details of which are not yet known. Secondly, divorcing in New York is better for Murdoch than divorcing in his native country, Australia.

BBC economics editor Robert Peston tweeted Thursday that he was told that "undisclosed reasons for Murdoch divorcing Deng are jaw-dropping - & hate myself for wanting to know what they are."

Later, Michael Wolff, the author of the Murdoch biography, The Man Who Owns The News: Inside The Secret World Of Rupert Murdoch, tweeted, "Rumor about the big B is everywhere except in print."

"It is true that Deng and Blair are close friends," Wolff said, "but that doesn't necessarily mean an affair."

It will be the third divorce for the News Corp. CEO. Murdoch's divorce from his second wife Anna in 1999 resulted in a $1.7 billion settlement, which is believed to be one of the most expensive divorce settlements on record. As of March 2013, Murdoch was reportedly worth $11.2 billion.

Murdoch's company is currently in the process of dividing its media and entertainment holdings, which will both remain under Rupert Murdoch's control.

Wendi Deng Murdoch and her two daughters with Rupert do not have voting power in the company. The divorce is turning into a curious case, as there has been no clear indication of the split, but as the divorce continues, more and more answers will be sought out.
