Patawatomi Casino Security Team Fail To Protect Patrons During Shooting, 23-Year-Old Woman Shot In The Leg

A shooting at Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin injured a 23-year-old patron, all the while with casino security guards hiding from the scene much like the civilians.

"I was upstairs at the bingo hall, and then when it was over they told everybody to exit because it was a shooting downstairs. The security guards was there. They dropped like everybody else dropped," recalled witness Sheila King according to UPI.

"There weren't too much protecting each other. They were trying but they were scared too. They fell to the floor. The whole casino fell to the floor basically."

A 27-year-old Wauwatosa male has been arrested since the incident took place around 1:30 am yesterday. The suspect reportedly fired a handgun which hit the woman in the leg.

According to JS Online, two men named Antonio Felder and De Von Dent claim friend and Milwaukee native Steven Karr was the first to try to get the gun from the suspect.

"It looked like a bad game of Twister with a gun," Felder said. "Everybody had their hands on the gun. It could have gotten worse."

Following the incident, Casino officials reportedly issued a statement complimenting their security team's response.

"We are thankful no one was hurt more seriously and that the situation was contained quickly," said the statement.

"Response by local law enforcement as well as our security team was outstanding."

But other patrons appear to think otherwise, with one claiming he saw security guards hiding under gambling tables.

"We were appalled," said witness James Comerford. "They had no plan."

"I will not be going back down there until they bring in metal detectors," added another witness Martanya Washington.
