BTS Saved Lives During COVID-19? Recent Study Reveals Astonishing Findings

In a groundbreaking revelation, a recent study conducted by Dartmouth College highlights the extraordinary impact of BTS in shaping public health outcomes worldwide during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the devoted BTS fanbase, known as ARMYs, has long credited the group for providing a ray of hope through their uplifting music.

A Global Sensation with a Dual Impact

This research suggests that their influence transcended music and outshone even the efforts of esteemed institutions like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institute of Health (NIH), and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The study, spearheaded by Herbert Chang, a professor of Quantitative Social Science at Dartmouth College, originated from a personal observation during the pandemic's lockdown.Chang noticed that people heavily relied on digital content for solace during these trying times.

Intriguingly, it was during this period that BTS achieved global stardom due to the commercial success of their music and their advocacy for important causes, including mental health, which they discussed at the United Nations General Assembly.

Chang and his team began analyzing quantitative data related to online communications concerning public health and safety, and the findings were nothing short of astonishing. The research revealed that BTS emerged as the most significant and effective force in disseminating public health messages.

"Once the pandemic hit, a lot of concerts that BTS held were canceled. The fans online organized themselves to donate, basically, these refunds to different causes. One is the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020.

Also to UNICEF as well. And this summed to more than $3 million or $4 million in total donations, often all in the span of a few days. This is all from from this type of grassroot organization from using social media."

For instance, in one striking example, Chang highlighted the Twitter activity of the head of WHO, who mentioned BTS in 16 tweets. These 16 tweets generated approximately 200,000 retweets, a number equivalent to his other tweets combined.

This data illustrated that incorporating BTS into the conversation resulted in a staggering 111-fold increase in reach.Chang candidly admitted that while he anticipated BTS's presence among influencers in public health messaging, he never expected them to be the most prominent force.

Chang emphasized that the influence BTS has demonstrated over their fanbase and their ability to inspire positive actions during the pandemic could serve as a valuable lesson for other nonpartisan influencers seeking to make meaningful changes in people's lives.

This study sheds light on the unprecedented role of BTS in shaping global public health narratives during a time of crisis and emphasizes the potential impact of celebrities in advancing public health and societal well-being.
