Samsung Galaxy S3 Update: Android 4.2.2 Release Delayed Due To TouchWiz UI, Update To Feature Dual Shot And Eraser For Camera

Samsung Galaxy S3 is supposed to get a software update this June. But according to the blog Trusted Reviews, the release of Android 4.2.2, which will update the aging device and add the much awaited Dual Shot and Eraser feature to its camera options, is delayed.

According to Trusted Reviews, a twitter announcement from Samsung user community Sammobile read, “Samsung delayed 4.2.2 for Note II and S III. Reason new TW for S III and Note II.”

SamMobile added that the remodeling of the familiar TouchWiz UI is to blame for the potential postponement, but offered no timeframe for an eventual arrival.

Although the delay is yet to be officially confirmed, the postponed update will also affect Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users.

The Android 4.2.2 for Samsung Galaxy S3 had been previously pegged for a June rollout, according to sources of Trusted Reviews.

The South Korean manufacturer has remained quiet on the matter.

The delayed update for the aforementioned Samsung handsets will not affect owners of Samsung Galaxy S4. The flagship model comes with the latest Android software direct from the box.

The full range of features that will be added to the device is still unclear, but many speculate that it will include some of the S4’s camera features, especially the Dual Shot and Eraser.

Aside from the camera features, the eye-tracking Smart Pause and Smart Scroll could also be available to S3 via Android 4.2.2.

In the event that Smart Pause and Smart Scroll becomes available through the software update, it will be the first time such features will be non-exclusive to the S4 model.
