Should BABYMONSTER Re-Debut? Stans Discuss Group's 'Underwhelming' Entry to K-pop

BABYMONSTER became a hot topic in an online community, where netizens and stans discussed the group's debut in K-pop.

Here's what people are saying.

K-pop Stans Suggest BABYMONSTER to Re-Debut Due to 'Disappointing' Entry, Title Track, More

On December 10, an online discussion titled, "BAEMON should just re-debut" was established by netizens.

In the discussion, the original author uploaded several screenshots from BABYMONSTER's debut track "BATTER UP" and a caption containing sentiments of dissatisfaction.

According to the post, OP expressed that BABYMONSTER's debut was "too disappointing." It also claimed that no one stood out except for the youngest member Chiquita.

This was followed by a comment on their title track's rap verses and a question regarding YG Entertainment's capability to deliver something new to the table. The OP stated:

"To be honest, Baemon was just way too disappointing. I watched the music video (for 'BATTER UP'), and I couldn't see anyone else but Chiquita? The rap was also severely disappointing as well. I wonder if YG is unable to do more than this?"

The author continued:

"I'm sure the feedback and reactions would've been better if they debuted these three with Ahyeon. They're the ones who have charms and are fine-looking. Also, the center for the first verse's highlight was f**king disappointing."

"Seriously, why put her as the center? I'll pretend their debut never happened, so please, can YG just re-debut them once more?"

In the comments section, netizens discussed their preferred lineup changes for BABYMONSTER. They also enumerated each of the members' strengths and weaknesses.

Read their comments below:

  •  "I think that putting these four alongside Ruka will do just fine. I feel like Haram just doesn't fit in the group and she stands out the least."
  •  "But she has the most parts. Meanwhile, the three of them who had the most positive feedback had the least parts."
  •  "Ruka, Rora, Chiquita, and Ahyeon are the best. Pharita is pretty, has a nice voice and has more talent than I anticipated. Haram is talented but has zero star factor. Asa has good skills, but she has no celebrity vibe."
  •  "The rap was disappointing, and I feel like they killed the rap. Seriously, it makes me realize that people do have different ears. Rora and Asa stood out the most."
  •  "It would be fine if Ahyeon, Rora, Chiquita, and Asa debuted. Their visuals and skills are all okay. Of course, all Baemon members are talented but these four would look good together."

International fans also joined the thread, with some pointing out YG Entertainment's marketing strategy. One fan stated:

"Baemon as a whole has been underwhelming. YG doesn't seem to understand that it's not 2016 anymore."

"They can't just drop stuff and leave because the market is oversaturated with popular girls with enough resources to go the extra mile and promote everywhere. In 2016, BLACKPINK did PR. I don't understand YG's strategy."

Others insisted that the inclusion of Ahyeon could alter BABYMONSTER's course and feedback from the general public.
