Playstation 4 Rumors, PS4 Price & Specs: Developers Refuse To Comment On Game Prices Staying The Same As Video Game Development Costs Soar. Will They Go Broke?

Activision, Unisoft and EA spokespeople have all declined to comment on next-generation game pricing remaining the same for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One as the costs of game development soar, according to the Computer and Video Games news blog.

Both Sony and Microsoft announced on Monday that their PS4 and Xbox One console games will cost $59.99, the same price as current Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 games.

But game developers like Activision Unisoft and EA might be losing out on millions of dollars as the cost of game development and production featuring new specs continues to rise.

"We aren't here to be greedy; we are here to do the best we possibly can for gamers and it's great that our price point has been well received," said a Sony representative at an E3 press conference, according to Pocket-lint.

"It was very important for us to introduce it at a very attractive price point, and it was very important for us to bring that community with us, and to be open to that community and be open to them."

Although game developers face the possibility of losing out on profits as the price of Playstation 4 and Xbox One games remain stagnant while development costs continue to soar, a few analysts are more optimistic and believe there will be increased revenue generated from other specs.

During an E3 2013 analyst call last week, EA COO Peter Moore said he doesn't expect software prices to increase next-gen, noting: "You see a $60 price for a next-gen game whereas we believe [with digital downloads] we can get $70, $80, $90 from the consumer, but it's a $60 price point," according to the Computer and Video Games news blog.

Video game sales will be the only indicator for the future of game development with the PS4 and the Xbox One.
