Allen Iverson Denies Abducting His Children, Ex-Wife Didn’t Want To Drive 45 Minutes To Pick Up Kids

NBA superstar Allen Iverson denied that he abducted his children, and instead said that his ex-wife Tawanna Iverson could have picked up the children but didn't want to drive 45 minutes to his location.

In Superior Court of Fulton County documents, Iverson's ex claims he abducted their five children, ages 3 to 16, First Coast News reports. According to TMZ, who first obtained the documents, Tawanna asserted that her children were being held in an Atlanta hotel and that Allen refused to hand them over to their mother on the designated swap date.

In her filing, Tawanna claimed that Allen had received permission to take the children on a trip to North Carolina from May 22 to 26, but didn't return the kids to her on the 26th. Tawanna believed they never went to North Carolina, but stayed with Allen in the hotel the whole time.

Now TMZ is reporting that this is not the case. In fact, Allen appeared in Fulton Country court in Georgia last Wednesday, and said that his ex-wife had full access to their kids while they were staying at the hotel.

Tawanna later testified that she could have picked up the children from Allen, but didn't feel like driving 45 minutes to his location.

WXIA's Jeff Hullinger found the hotel Allen was staying at, according to First Coast News, and attempted to show him the court documents.

"They say I stole my kids? That's what they say?" Iverson said. "If that's what you believe and people think I'm crazy enough to do, then so be it."

"I ain't never treated fairly, don't expect to be," he added before driving away.

Yahoo! News reports Allen and Tawanna Iverson may have worked through some of their issues, and though Tawanna has sole legal custody of the children in the couple's divorce settlement, she has agreed to allow Allen more time with their children.
