Nexus 7 2 Tablet Release Date July: Google Sets Price At $229 For 16GB Version, Features 4G LTE Coverage For Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T

The Nexus 7 2 tablet could have a release date as soon as this July.

Google was expected to unveil its Nexus 7 2 tablet at Google I/O Conference in May, but when no news was released at the event, rumors about the tablet's specs and features once again began to spread.

CNET recently reported that Google is close to launching its next-gen Nexus 7 tablet, after receiving information from market research company IHS. The report suggests that Japan Display and AUO have been hired to manufacture the display for the Nexus 7 second-generation tablet.

The Nexus 7 2 tablet will be released in July with a price tag of $229 for the 16GB version, Digitimes reported.

Rumored specs of the 7-inch Nexus 7 2 tablet include a 1920x1200 display with 323 pixels per inch, according to NDTV Gadgets.

The tablet will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and is expected to compete with Apple's next-gen iPad mini and Amazon's Kindle Fire HD tablets.

"As first-tier brand vendors have been trying to expand their sales through price cuts, Google is not looking to follow suit, but will instead focus on defending the US$199-249 segment of the 7-inch tablet market and target competitors such as Amazon and Apple," the Digitimes sources said.

The Nexus 7 2 tablet will reportedly support AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon's 4G LTE mobile networks, according to Brian Klug on Twitter. Klug tweeted:

The bands referred to in the tweet represent the mobile carriers' 4G LTE coverage. The only band missing is Sprint's 4G LTE band - 25.

The Nexus 7 2 will also reportedly support two 3G bands: 850MHz and 1900MHz, allowing its distribution around most of the world, The Full Signal reported.

Google has yet to confirm rumors of the Nexus 7 2 tablet's specs, features and release date.
