Candy Crush Saga Developer, King, Discusses IPO With Banks; Public Investors To Get Their Share of The Candies?

The Candy Crush Saga is about to go public as its developer, King, is already planning to file for an IPO, CNET reported.

Based on a report made by All Things D, Midasplayer International Holding Co, King's holding company and the publisher of Candy Crush Saga as well as other mobile and online games has already hired banks to make a US initial public offering or IPO as sources familiar with the move said.

The company behind Candy Crush Saga, which is a top favorite, and top-grossing mobile and Facebook puzzle game has employed J.P Morgan Chase & Co., Bank of America Corp, and Credit Suisse Group AG to manage the IPO. This business move only means one thing -- King wants to sell shares of the company to public investors.

Candy Crush Saga developer,King, is originally based in London, and according to Business Insider, the maker of the deliciously sweet puzzle game was already able to raise $50 million from investors since 2005. Riccardo Zacconi, the CEO and co-founder of the company told last year that King has been successfully making money since 2005.

Business Insider also noted that this potential IPO from Candy Crush Saga developer will be interesting especially now that another gaming company, Zynga, is currently in market trouble because of its poor performance on Wall Street, with its stock falling 70% already since it started its IPO in 2011. This has also caused them to lay off more than 500 employees.

Candy Crush Saga, King's one of the most successful game so far, was launched on Facebook April of last year having about 15.4 million users every day, according to App Data. Wall Street Journal also said that the Candy Crush Saga maker has about 70 million daily users for all of its existing game titles.

Aside from playing the game as a Facebook app, Candy Crush Saga can also be downloaded to mobile devices. iOS app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad as well as Android app is both available for download.
