'So You Think You Can Dance' Top 20: The Surprises, And Nigel's Opinions On Season 10

"So You Think You Can Dance" begins its official top 20 journey with the magnificent reveal episode, where the top 20 are incrementally revealed through clips, then by dancing in their own styles for a live audience.

Without further ado, the top 20 for the boys and girls are...

Aaron Turner (tap), Alan Bersten (ballroom/Latin), BluPrint (animation), Carlos Garland (contemporary), Curtis Holland (tap), Fik-Shun (hip hop), Jade Zuberi (animation), Nico Greetham (contemporary), Paul Karmiryan (Latin ballroom), and Tucker Knox (contemporary.

Alexis Juliano (tap), Amy Yakima (contemporary), Brittany Cherry (ballroom), Haley Erbert (contemporary), Jasmine Harper (contemporary), Jasmine Mason (jazz), Jenna Johnson (ballroom), Makenzie Dustman (contemporary), Malece Miller (contemporary), and Mariah Spears (hip hop).

And right off the bat, a withdrawal occurred with male hip hop dancer Emilio "Millie" Dosal, who injured himself right after being accepted into the top 20. This turned out to be good news for Aaron Turner, who was number 11 on the judges' list of male dancers.

In the episode, you can hear Nigel being cautiously wary about this season. Maybe his recent exit from "American Idol" has churned his attitude a bit.

"I think for the first time we're going to be investing in dancers that we're uncertain that they'll manage to cope with the rigors of the program," said Nigel off the top of the episode.

"We're going to keep our fingers crossed that these investments make good."

It seems Mr. Lythgoe is more uncertain than ever what the right combination of people makes a good season of a reality talent show. But the dancers themselves didn't disappoint.

In total, there were 10 routines in the two-hour episode covering hip hop, contemporary, animation, Latin, jazz, tap, and everything in between. Not an easy task for these young folks.

But when host Cat Deeley asked Nigel what he thought of the top 10 girls, he remained neutral.

"It's always difficult because you're letting people go and you go, 'Ohhh'...it's so heartbreaking sometimes. But I think we've chosen the right ones this season."

"It'll be up to America now. It's going to be really difficult this season, I think, for America to choose."

Only time will tell what America thinks of season 10's "So You Think You Can Dance" top 20.
