Sakura Earns Backlash After Refuting She Achieved Everything By Luck But Hard Work

In a recent "Thank You" message, LE SSERAFIM Sakura once again became the center of criticism for allegedly being "full of herself" after saying she never felt like she was lucky in her life.

On May 13, the female idol's dedication page in their 3rd mini-album, "EASY" became a hot topic in the online community board of theqoo after noticing something "off" with what she said.

In particular, Sakura's message started with expressing her gratitude to the team behind "EASY," including Bang Si Hyuk PD, Source Music's CEO So Sung Jin and others.

While this was supposed to appreciate the people who helped them complete the album, it suddenly became a platform for Sakura to address certain issues regarding her career, and one of them was that she achieved everything in her career due to LUCK.

However, the female star firmly refuted all these and pointed out that all she had become today was the fruit of her efforts and hard work, and was never because of her luck.

She emphasized:

"Isn't the theme of this album 'EASY'? But I think that I'm the least suitable person for this word. I feel like I've really walked on a really difficult path.

I've heard someone say this before:

'Miyawaki Sakura is a person who took every opportunity with luck.'

Even when I heard it, I didn't feel any special feelings, but it's more like, 'That's what it looks like to other people, I see!" But when I look back, I've never felt that my life had any good luck. (I don't want to say I was unlucky though).

If I were lucky, I would not have tried this hard, and I feel like I wouldn't be where I am now. It wasn't easy and I overcame a lot of hardships that I was able to become the person I am now. Because of this, I was also able to trust and love myself."

When netizens saw this, they were extremely frustrated by Sakura's alleged "full of herself" attitude.

Internet users stated that becoming the center and ranking A during Mnet's "Produce 48" should be considered luck, amid hundreds of worthy opponents.

At the time, all of them worked hard and it was a matter of luck to gain the attention of the general public, explaining that she survived at the time not necessarily because of her skills.

  • "If it is not luck that has kept you at the top with that skill, then what it is?"
  • "I guess she loves herself too much."
  • "It may have taken you a lot of effort, but you were also lucky."
  • "It seems like you are really, really lucky, but, weirdly, you have never felt that way."
  • "If you hadn't been born with that face and body, you wouldn't have been an idol."
  • "You may think you worked hard, but among domestic idols, there are a lot of idols who worked harder than you. I'm sorry, but if you want to claim that you really worked hard, first get top in singing and dancing."
  • "To be honest, there is a saying that the entertainment industry is all about luck, but I wonder if your debut would have been possible without luck. It's ridiculous because you look luckier than anyone else."
