BIBI Criticized for Being 'Rude' During School Festival: 'She Crossed the Line'

Following a university festival, singer BIBI raised brows for allegedly acting rude. What did she do?

On April 25, BIBI, who currently reigns as a rising singer for her hit "Bam Yang Gang," was invited as a guest at NamSeoul University High School Festival.

It's been a month since the event occurred; however, she belatedly went viral after a clip containing her controversial remark started spreading on YouTube shorts like wildfire.

In the video, BIBI stood on the stage at the university festival and asked the audience:

"Who hates school? Who thinks that school is *X? (*vulgar term for male genitalia)"

She continued:

"If I act like a dirty X, you should say, 'Dirty X'!"

The edited video showing BIBI's remark has now earned over half a million views. Immediately, her fans defended the singer, explaining that her remarks were supposed to introduce her song, "Vengeance."

Some students also attested to other internet users that it is nothing since BIBI is known for her outspoken & confident personality which is also one of the reasons why a lot of female fans were attracted to her.

However, the majority of those who saw the clip, especially male netizens were convinced that she "crossed the line." They were hurt not only because she referred to a derogatory term for male genitalia, but she also made a disparaging remark about the school.

Rather than seeing her act as "cool," people implied that BIBI is just "rude" & "disrespectful."

In addition to this, the remark was made in front of students, which is "inappropriate" for them to hear and say.

In the comment section, fans stated that her good public image thanks to the fame of "Bam Yang Gang" deteriorated and only negative reviews were left, saying:

  • "The school invited a singer to have fun with the students who paid tens of millions of won in tuition fees, but she's standing there disparaging the school."
  • "It is worthy of criticism to spread negativity at a ‘school’ festival, which is not another festival."
  • "It is not cool and rather looks embarrassing. It’s a shame. It’s at the level."

As April and May are the season of school festivals, BIBI is becoming the center of attention for her unacceptable use of vulgar terms and sexual gestures in front of students.

Earlier on May 25, she attended a school festival along with Choi Yena, Tiger JK and Yoon Mirae, but she's the only one to use the curse word, "fxxk."

This is not the first time she was called out for acting "inappropriately" at a university event.

In 2022, she raised her brows after doing a "lap dance" with a male student and encouraging the guy to put his hand on her waist. She also kissed the fan on his cheek after the stage. There are other incidents when she would kiss female fans and give condoms at events outside Korea.

While a lot of her fans are supportive of her creating her individuality through music and unique personality, netizens highlighted that not everyone will like her mature gestures so as a celebrity, she has to tone it down for her younger fans.
