Pokemon X And Y: Who Is Team Flare And Why There's More To Them Than Meets The Eye

With Pokemon X and Pokemon Y being released October 12, yesterday saw an abundance of updates thanks to Corocoro. Amongst the new Pokemon and characters is a particularly interesting tidbit about the money-grabbing evil Team Flare, and here's why there seems to be more to them than meets the eye.

What's been revealed about them is simple: they want money. Dressed in appropriately bright suits, some Pokemon X and Y fans have dubbed them the "fashion police" for their slick get-up.

What can be assumed is that the image displayed only shows the Team Flare Grunts, and that more important Team members will be unveiled later.

Even more interesting is that sources like VG24/7 believes Team Flare members include characters shown in the X and Y Corocoro update yesterday, including Professor Platane and Gym Leaders Citron and Zakuro.

It's possible the translation has been misinterpreted, but if Team Flare is truly so far-reaching, the story for Pokemon X and Y could be a lot more expansive than before.

Another issue that has been raised by Pokemon X and Y fans is how Team Flare pertains to capturing or manipulating Legendary Pokemon Yveltal and Xerneas, as per tradition.

After all, they're only after money...right?

"Team Flare's goal is to make money, but one would assume that they are after the Yveltal or Xerneas, but they are the death and life Pokemon. How does that aid them in their goal to gain money?" writes Gamefaqs forum contributor Soccer_is_Best.

"There's got to be more to it, not to mention that was already done by Team Rocket. I'm really expecting something with genetics as well, due to the Japanese logos."

But above all, it seems initial responses are positive for Team Flare, and that is a big plus for Pokemon X and Y.

"They're somewhat more down to earth and realistic with plausible motivations, they're dressed in a way that inspires...well, more respect than random bursts of laughter and genuinely seem like they could be a more interesting team than some of the last ones," concludes a Nintendo 3DS Daily writer.
