Willie Nelson ‘Stardust’; Whole Song Will Be Performed By 80-Year-Old Country Legend For First Time, To Celebrate 1978 LP's 35th Anniversary In August

Willie Nelson's hit song "Stardust" will be performed for the first time in its entirety this August in Los Angeles to celebrate the LP's 35th anniversary. Nelson, the country singer legend, is 80-years-old.

According to Rolling Stone, Willie Nelson has 20 Number One country hits but has never performed the whole "Stardust" song live. On August 9th and 10th, Nelson will perform the 1978 country smash LP "Stardust" from beginning to end for the first time. The show will take place at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, with a full orchestra led by David Campbell.

Nelson will also perform his greatest hits at the show.

In the seventies, Nelson and his band went to the studio and covered ten American Songbook classics, including Hoagy Carmichael's "Stardust" and "Georgia on My Mind," Irving Berlin's "Blue Skies" and the Gershwin's "Someone to Watch Over Me," Rolling Stone reports.  The album achieved four hit singles and won a Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance, for "Georgia on My Mind."

"They were all songs I heard all the time on the radio," Willie said in the piece "Willie Nelson: An Epic Life."

"We had sheet music, and Bobbie [Nelson] played them on the piano and I'd figured them out on guitar. Those were hard songs to play. They weren't your normal country and western tunes. They had a lot of good chords in them, and it took some time to learn them," Nelson continued.

According to MStars News, Nelson's hit "On The Road Again" is an iconic song by the American country legend, and is usually played in movies or shows when a scene features someone jumping into a car for a big journey.

Tickets for the Los Angeles show are on sale now.
