Carly Rae Jepsen First Pitch Goes Wrong: ‘Call Me Maybe’ Singer Hits Photographer With Baseball At Rays Game, Gets ‘Sympathy Hug’ From Catcher [VIDEO]

Carly Rae Jepsen's first pitch at a Tampa Bay Rays home game Sunday night went very wrong, as a video going viral on YouTube shows. The "Call Me Maybe" singer hit a photographer, but Carly Rae Jepsen got a comforting hug from the Rays catcher.

The 27-year-old Canadian singer held onto the baseball for too long, so that when she let go it fell just a few feet in front of her, and rolled wildly to the left.

It was so astray, that the ball collided with a photographer and knocked his camera from his hands, The Daily Mail reports.

In response, Carly covered her face with her hands, giggled, and then threw her arms up in embarrassment.

At least she looked cute! Jepsen was wearing a blue baseball cap, a Rays jersey tied at her midriff, high-waisted and cuffed gray jean shorts, nude textured leggings, and gray converse shoes. She tied her orange-red hair in a braid down her shoulder.

The photographer turned out to be fine. The Rays catcher seemed to feel bad for the pop star, and gave her a comforting hug.

She then shared a few laughs after the pitch with Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Moore, The Daily Mail reports.

Carly made a collage of the infamous pitch and posted in on Twitter, with the caption: "A before and after. Me taking the mound. Me knocking the camera out of the photographers hands with the baseball. And me getting a sympathy hug from the catcher. Omg."

After the incident, Carly also tweeted: "Met a lot of lovelies at this game today! Go Rays!"

Sounds like not even an embarrassing moment can get this cheery singer down!

Ironically, Jepsen threw a strike for her first pitch at a Baltimore Orioles baseball game in April, People magazine reports. Fox also reports that when Jepsen was practicing for her pitch at the Rays game, she was throwing strikes.

Despite the awkward start to Sunday's game, the Rays went on to beat the Houston Astros 5-0, People reports.
