Saints Row 4 Release Date: Video Game Goes Political? Deep Silver Launches Government Website For The Saints

The developers of Saints Row 4 teamed up with online media companies Deep Silver and Futureus to launch SaintsGOV.com, a government website for the Saints, according to Gameranx.

"While on the website, people can participate in polls to vote for specific laws such as clothing optional supermarkets or amusement parks where the admission fee depends on the weight of your clothing," Gameranx writes.

"Once you vote for your desired laws, you can register guns of all kind. For a classic appeal, the Deacon 12-Guage shotgun will service your simple needs. For those feeling a little thin, the Infalto-ray will inflate any targets the gun hits. Perfect for parties, the Dubstep Gun will shoot more dubstep than humanly consumable."

But some say Saints Row 4, a game that grants users superpowers inside of a virtual reality city, might be at the end of its time as a saga.

Volition, the game's developer, said they are reconsidering ending some of the wacky gameplay features that are a trademark of the game, PC Gamer reports.

"I remember telling people: 'I don't know how we're going to top [Saints Row: The Third]," admits design director Scott Phillips in an interview with Game Reactor "We've got a mission on Mars, we've got a heli-carrier, we've got zombies. Where do we go from here?"

"But everybody took a vacation, we came back, started fresh, and very quickly we came up with: 'Well we've got to have... let's do superpowers. It's something we've always been talking about. Wouldn't it be great to run as fast as a car, or jump over a building, or be able to pick up somebody with your mind and throw them across the city,'" Phillips said.

Saints Row 4 is infused with capabilities that allow users to kill enemies in the game using tactics unheard of before, including aiming a weapon at someone that will eventually make their head explode.

Volition will release the game on August 20 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. The developer has not announced changes for next-generation consoles Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
