Professor Calls God A Racist Following George Zimmerman Verdict: 'God Is Not For Us' As She Blogs About Six White Women Being The Jurors

A professor calls god a racist after her reaction to the verdict that George Zimmerman was found not guilty last week of second-degree murder and manslaughter involvement of the 2012 death of Travon Martin in Sanford, Fla.

Anthea Butler, an associate professor at the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania's Department of Religious Studies, was the professor that calls God a racist when writing a blog post released on Monday on ReligionDispatches.org.

The  U Penn professor calls God a racist after it was revealed that the jurors for this murder-trial were all white women who found Zimmerman not-guilty.

"God ain't good all of the time. In fact, sometimes, God is not for us," she wrote in the post. "As a black woman in an [sic] nation that has taken too many pains to remind me that I am not a white man, and am not capable of taking care of my reproductive rights, or my voting rights, I know that this American god ain't my god.

Zimmerman, 28, is a Hispanic man that was the neighborhood watch coordinator for the gated community in Sanford when Martin, 17, was temporarily staying and an altercation ensued resulting in the death of Martin.

"As a matter of fact, I think he's a white racist God with a problem. More importantly, he is carrying a gun and stalking young black men," she added.

When Zimmerman was brought into questioning for six hours following the shooting that killed Martin; he was released because the authorities believed it was in self-defense. When the story hit the media waves, eventually Zimmerman went to trial for the murder of Martin, but was found not-guilty anyway.

During a speech at a NAACP convention, Attorney General Eric Holder, head of the Department of Justice, stated that the department was continuing to investigate Zimmerman for civil rights violations after the verdict, and also criticized existing "stand-your-ground" laws. Holder's speech was denounced by the NRA and Florida Governor Rick Scott.
