Upcoming Google Nexus 7.2 Photo Leak: Asus K009 Confirmed As Next Google Tablet, Receives Global Cert In Preparation For July Launch

An image leak of an alleged new tablet called the Asus K009 is the next Google Nexus 7.2, rumors proposed, according to an article by the International Business Times.

Gotta Be Mobile confirmed through Blog of Mobile that the Asus K009 has just passed through the GCF (Global Certification Forum), which signifies that it has received an OK for consumer release. The Asus K009 and K008 has also passed the requirements of POSTEL, a certification body in Indonesia.

According to the US Daily Voice, the tablet could be launched as soon as July, with a release date not too far from the announcement.

The news of its release was ignited earlier when one of the representatives of Asus disclosed the company’s plans to release a new Nexus variant. Gotta Be Mobile has confirmed that another Asus representative, while answering a customer inquiry, mentioned the arrival of new Nexus tablet.

Many Google and Android enthusiasts expected an announcement from the company about the launch of the updated version of Nexus 7 during the Google I/O developers conference. However, nothing was announced about the updated version of Android software or release of latest Nexus tablet

Another strong indication that the Asus tablet maybe the latest Nexus device is an FCC filing pertaining to a gadget named Asus K009. The filing showed that the overall appearance of the K009 is very similar to the leaked image of the Nexus 7. The filing also showed that the Asus K009 carries the Nexus branding.

The alleged latest version of the Nexus is expected to have an updated version of the Android operating system, Jelly Bean.

The upcoming Google Nexus 7.2 tablet is also rumored to have 4G LTE connectivity and a much better display than the current Nexus 7 model. Rumored display specs are at 7-inch 1080 pixels screen with a Snapdragon 600 processor. The camera features of the device are expected to have a 5 megapixels rear camera with higher res for the front camera.

The upcoming rumored model is said to be a fairly big upgrade from last year’s device. The new Google Nexus 7. 2 could be priced between $220 to 299 with an entry-level model starting at $199.
