Robin Thicke ‘Blurred Lines’ Album Review: New Zealand Paper Says New Collection ‘Has Lyrics That Will Offend Anyone’

Robin Thicke’s new album, “Blurred Lines,” has some big shoes to fill if it is to follow the success of the singer's hit record of the same name.

The hit single has been listened to by many and even caused a scandal with the release of a nude version of the music video. It is the biggest selling single of the year thus far and has held steady at number one in New Zealand for 12 weeks, a big accomplishment for the singer who hasn’t had much popularity in New Zealand.

It's no surprise then that some of the earliest reviews on the album came from the collection of islands in the Pacific. And though the polite populace of the country are known to be kind, the assessment of Thicke's album was far from it.

All of the attention “Blurred Lines’ received will help Thicke’s new album sell. However, it is hard to imagine that Thicke will have another song on the album do as well as “Blurred Lines.”

Here is what The New Zealand Herald had to say about the songs on the “Blurred Lines” album, “Give it 2 U” has lyrics that will offend anyone who found the nude video inappropriate. “Top of the World” is a saucy, “inspired, old-school rap.” “Take it Easy on Me” features distorted bass and “banging” beats. “Ooo La La” is a “sunny tune.” The New Zealand Herald considers “Feel Good” is “hands in the air” pop music and “4 The Rest of My Life” as uninspired and “soppy.” The Herald continues to say that “The Good Life” is an “overly earnest finale” and rates the entire “Blurred Lines” album with 2.5 out of 5 stars.

Overall, The New Zealand Herald was not impressed and thinks that the album will not be as popular as it’s namesake hit song.
