3 Bodies Found Wrapped in Plastic Bags in Cleveland Suburb; May Be More Victims; Suspect Arrested (Video)

Three bodies that had been wrapped in plastic bags were found in a suburb of Cleveland in northern Ohio. Police are searching for more victims. The three bodies were found about 100 to 200 yards apart from each other. A thirty-five year old man was arrested in connection with all three deaths after a standoff with police Friday. He is jailed in East Cleveland. The bodies were each in the fetal position, wrapped in several layers of trash bags.

The suspect in the 3 bodies found is a registered sex offender and has done time in prison. The Cleveland mayor said he believes the 3 bodies found were influenced by convicted serial killer Anthony Sowell. Police did not immediately release the suspect's name.

East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton told the Associated Press, "He said some things that led us to believe that in some way, shape, or form, Sowell might be an influence."

Anthony Sowell was found guilty in 2011 of killing 11 women and hiding their remains around his home in Cleveland. Sowell was sentenced to death. He is currently in an Ohio prison.

Mayor Norton was asked if the suspect was fascinated with the Sowell case and responded, “We believe so."

Police Commander Mike Cardilli told the Associated press that the police found woman's body on in a garage on Friday and two more bodies were found Saturday. One of the three bodies found was in the backyard and the other was discovered in the basement of a vacant house. It is believed that all three victims were in the last six to 10 days.

Police have not yet determined the gender of the two bodies that were found on Saturday. Authorites do not know the identities of any of the three bodies found. The bodies were sent to the coroner's office.

The mayor said "The person in custody, some of the things he said to investigators made us go back today."

Police searched vacant houses in a three-block area on Saturday. They plan to expand their search today. Police, the FBI, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department are using dogs trained to find cadavers to search abandoned houses and yards.

The mayor said, "Hopefully, we pray to God, this is it.”
