Sherlock Season 3 Episode 3 Title Is 'His Last Vow': Season 4 Plausible For Benedict Cumberbatch And Martin Freeman To Film Between Other Projects

As "Sherlock" prepares to finish filming season 3, the title for episode 3 has been revealed to be "His Last Vow," after the popular Sherlock Holmes story "His Last Bow."

An interesting note of the inspiration is that "His Last Bow" is the final chronological story of Sherlock Holmes. Framed more as a spy story than a murder mystery, Sherlock retires from active detective work as the story concludes.

During the most recent Comic-Con panel, "Sherlock" producer Steven Moffat alludes there will be another cliffhanger at the end of episode 3.

"You'll be watching the end of the last episode thinking, 'They wouldn't stop it there?! They wouldn't stop it there?! Oh my God, they wouldn't stop it there?!'" teases Moffat.

Does this mean season 3 will be the last we see of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in the definitive roles?

Not quite.

According to "Sherlock" producer Sue Vertue says that both actors are "optioned for the fourth series. We just haven't figured out when we can do it."

"I think as long as everyone wants to keep doing it, we'll keep doing it."

Despite the booming film careers for both Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, it seems filming in between their projects is a plausible model for season 4 and beyond, according to IGN.
