Demi Lovato Miley Cyrus Feud Denied-- Demi "Feels Protective" Of Miley--But Doesn't Want To Twerk

Demi Lovato feels protective of Miley Cyrus, she says. Lovato denies rumors of a feud between the two.

The two met on the set of "Hannah Montana" back in the day...but now they've become pop icons in their own right. Still, they're very different.

The two are competitors at the 2013 Video Music Awards, and despite their differences, Demi thinks they'll still be friends for a long time.

Demi Lovato is worried about Miley Cyrus' partying, though. "She knows how I feel about the whole partying thing," Lovato said "I love her to death and I'm always like, 'Just be careful' and she's like, 'Dude, I'm chilling. It's fine.'"

Still, Lovato thinks Cyrus will be OK and that she's a smart girl, rather than taking it too far like Cory Monteith and other celebs tragically have.

"But I care for her so much that I'm so protective, but she's good. She's got a good head on her shoulders," Lovato said.

Demi doesn't want to twerk, however.

"She's twerking and she looks amazing doing it," Lovato said of Cyrus. "I don't want to do it in public. One, because people are going to be like, 'Oh, who twerks better?' And two, I'm really tired of the word 'twerking.' It's like 'swag', it's like, 'OK, just stop.' Or 'YOLO;' just don't."

At the VMAs, Lovato and Cyrus are both up for awards in the Best Female Video category. Demi is nominated for "Heart Attack," while Miley is up for "We Can't Stop."

And again, Demi demurred when asked if they were competitive.

"I think it's great," Demi said abou the song. "I think it's a good song... It's a song a lot of people have fun to and if people are enjoying it, then great."

Lovato would even love to collaborate-as long as she doesn't have to twerk.

Lovato doesn't party...but Cyrus sure does. Well, unless you count hair. "I'm crazy with my hair... it's my only form of rebellion, I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I don't party," Lovato said.

Despite their differences, Lovato said she would "absolutely" be down for a collaboration, only if there isn't any twerking involved.
