Doctor Who Season 8 Reveals New Monster And Peter Capaldi Sonic Screwdriver [SPOILERS]: Sherlock Writer Mark Gatiss To Pen Two Episodes After Premiere!

As "Doctor Who" season 8 continues filming, Peter Capaldi has debuted the series' sonic screwdriver for the first time.

According to Doctor Who TV, Peter Capaldi was recently filming "Doctor Who" season 8 episode 3, directed by Paul Murphy. During outdoors filming, photos were captured of Capaldi using the sonic screwdriver.

Sadly for fans, it appears the sonic screwdriver is not getting a new design, but instead Capaldi is simply using the screwdriver passed down from the Matt Smith era.

However, what is more exciting is the sneak peek of a new monster, a robot of some kind.

Meanwhile, it appears the writers of "Doctor Who" season 8 are slowly being revealed, the latest being a familiar name to all Whovians and "Sherlock" fans.

Mark Gatiss, who not only writes on "Sherlock" and "Doctor Who" but also portrays Mycroft Holmes, will reportedly be writing two episodes of season 8 this time around.

"One of the things which new Doctor Who sort of invented was the idea of a celebrity historical -- Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, Winston Churchill, Shakespeare. There’s three writers there, so I think Jane Austen stands quite a quite a good chance actually," says Gatiss according to Blastr.

"I'm not quite sure what the adventure would be. Maybe an alien posing as Mr. Darcy."

Given that "Doctor Who" season 8 is currently filming episode 4 and 5, Mark Gatiss is most likely writing a later episode of the series.
