Tori Amos New Album 2014 Release Date: Tori Amos Drops New Single, `Trouble’s Lament’ and Announced Tour Dates for 2014; Trouble Can Crash at My Place Anytime (VIDEO)

Tori Amos New Album 2014 Release Date: Tori Amos new single, "Trouble's Lament," takes in some familiar territory for the "Father Lucifer" singer. It's dark and sultry and catchy and just beautiful. If trouble needs a home, she can crash at my place.

Tori Amos announced the new song, her first in two years, on Instagram. Tori Amos new album will be her fourteenth studio album, Unrepentant Geraldines. Tori's "Trouble's Lament" is instantly recognizable. The vocals and the piano, forever adapting to any song's whim, are always Tori.

In the 90s, Tori affected me in much the same way "Catcher in the Rye" affected Mel Gibson's character in the movie "Conspiracy Theory": I felt compelled to nab everything Tori released as soon as I heard about it. Now, I can wait about a day, but only because I can hear it on YouTube.

Mercury Classics says the "Unrepentant Geraldines," Tori Amos new album 2014, release date is May 13th. But my ears are hungry now. The lead single, the hauntingly invitational minor chord propelled "Trouble's Lament" is here. On Tori's first single from her forthcoming LP, she sings about her lost lover, the dark prince, who she misses because "Satan knows how danger makes you feel." Danger is a

Tori Amos changes her soundscapes from album to album. From simple piano vocal arrangements to orchestrated pieces that turn into hypnotic extended live performances to crunching guitars with heavy bass and drums pulsing into sexual release or revenge, Tori's arrangements find the sound at the emotional heart of every song.

Tori Amos returns as her new track "Trouble's Lament," grows from an intimate acoustic plea to an all-inclusive demand for trouble's barbecue. You don't even hear one tinkle of ivory until 30 seconds into the song. I hear a little Dolly Parton in this, as Tori goes back and forth between country and - Tori Amos. When the brush drums and bass kicks in and Tori hits those head notes the song transcends genre and her growls are invitations to invocations.

Tori has been busy writing the song cycle for her acclaimed musical "The Light Princess."  In February Tori Amos told Rolling Stone magazine that "Unrepentant Geraldines" tells about Amos' recent moves from creating aural landscapes to visual ones. She said "I've always been inspired by visual artists of all mediums because, as with music, art is not a job you can go to and leave from, but it is something that defines who and what you are. Visual artists shake up our brains and force us to look at everything, from objects we don't normally think twice about to people we might not have cared about. In one image, they can remind us of nature's power to enchant, as well as humankind's fruitless attempt to overpower her or simply second-guess her. Through the visual artist's application of tone, shape, pattern and pigment, I not only begin to see, but I can honestly say I begin to hear."
