Windows Phone 8.1: It is only a few minutes away until April 2, and only several hours away from Microsoft's annual BUILD Conference, and we're already excited at what the Redmond giant has to offer in both its mobile and PC platforms.

While the upcoming Windows 8.1 update will be anticipated by Windows fans from all over the world, another crucial part of the event is the update on its Windows Phone platform.

According to recent reports, the Windows Phone 8.1 update will bring a number of changes which include a new notification center similar to that of Android, new user interface, more customization options for the tiled homescreen, an improved camera layout, support for Google calendar, Internet Explorer 11 functions, and more.

However, what a lot of people, especially Halo fans are waiting for, is the voice-assistant Cortana which could be the star of the show come the BUILD Conference.

In previous reports, the Siri-like Cortana will be able to access everything on your smartphone, and even the Web to answer your queries and address your needs.

Of course, we should still see whether Microsoft does a great job in the voice assistant category, due to the fact that it could be its highest selling point for upcoming devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1.

We'll bring you details about Microsoft's BUILD Conference as they happen.
