Windows Phone 8.1 Official Release Date Still Unknown, Developer Edition Coming Out On April 14

Windows Phone 8.1: This week, we finally saw what Microsoft has been working on over the past few months. And from the looks of it, its mobile platform may finally stand a small chance against the competition that is currently dominated by Android and iOS.

But the question now is, when would existing WP users be able to download this update?

Microsoft has not mentioned any official release date for the Windows Phone 8.1 update, which is kind of counter-productive considering the hype it has stirred before and even during its BUILD Conference.

Fortunately, the developer edition of the update, a.k.a. Lumia Cyan, would be free to download from Microsoft's website beginning on April 14.

Of course, like other 'developer edition' updates, this one may be filled with bugs, issues and other problems which may ruin the mind of an ordinary person. Well, there's a reason why it is called the 'developer' edition.

But in case you want to try it out for yourself and you're pretty confident with your skills, then you just have to wait a couple more weeks.
