Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date: Flagship Device May Be Getting An Upgrade Sooner Than Expected, Rumored Specs Include QHD (2K) Display, Snapdragon 805, 3GB Of RAM

Samsung Galaxy S5 release date: Samsung is on a roll right now (and in most months during the year it still is) due to the number of smartphones it has released over the past few months. And in spite criticisms from bloggers, analysts, and enthusiasts, the company continues to bring different spec'd devices with varying price ranges.

However, releasing another flagship, or possibly a higher-end flagship weeks after unveiling the Galaxy S5 may already be on an entirely new level.

A few months ago, we heard rumors of a premium Galaxy F lineup that would be encased in metal, and sport a QHD or 2K display. Well, both CES and MWC have come and gone and we've not seen even a shadow of it.

When the Galaxy S5 launched, there were rumors a few days later that Samsung would launch a premium version of the flagship, and as it turned out, it was not true as the information came from the company's CEO himself.

But in a recent report by GSM Arena, several leaked details have surfaced which appears to be what both rumors above have been refering to - a Samsung smartphone with a QHD display.

In a new list of specs which appeared on GFXBench, the upcoming Samsung device is dubbed G906S, which is closely near the Galaxy S5's model number G9000.

In the benchmarking app, some of the alleged specifications of the unknown device include a QHD (2560 x 1440) display and 3GB of RAM (which are both the highest in any Samsung mobile to date), a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.4GHz (though we would expect it to be higher come launch date), and Adreno 420 GPU, which would be perfect for graphics intensive tasks.

Other notable specs include the same 16MP camera of the Galaxy S5, probably with OIS as well, 2MP front cam, 32GB of internal storage, and Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box.

So what is the G906S exactly? Well, Samsung CEO J.K. Shin may be telling the truth that it would not be a 'premium' Galaxy S5, though the other option is still possible.

We may be seeing the company's first smartphone in the fabled Galaxy F lineup.
