Valerie Bertinelli is fighting weight gain again. The paparazzi has been going stalker-crazy trying to catch shots of Valerie Bertinelli's weight gain after Jenny Craig. But what's the big deal? Bertinelli was nursing a broken foot and couldn't keep up her exercise regimen.

Valerie Bertinelli admits she has gained back a lot of the 40 pounds she lost while serving as Jenny Craig spokesperson back in 2012. Valerie Bertinelli is speaking out after those pics of her weight gain go viral. Bertinelli wants to take shame out of gaining weight. 

Actress Valerie Bertinelli, who currently plays on the sitcom "Hot in Cleveland," readily admits she has gained back some of the 40 pounds she on Jenny Craig in 2012. It that any reason to shame her in public?

This isn't the first time Bertinelli weight gain has been in the headlines. A few years ago, Valerie got pounded when she signed on as a spokesperson for weight loss big name Jenny Craig. She posed in a tiny green bikini on the cover of People magazine just before her 49th birthday in 2009.

When Bertinelli sat down with The Talk hosts Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler, Sheryl Underwood, and Carnie Wilson on Wednesday, The Hot in Cleveland star  explained that it wasn't laziness that stopped her regimen, she broke her foot. And still liked to eat.

Bertinelli explained "I haven't been able to work out, so the weight has been creeping on. But I have to take the shame out of it because it's not fair . ... I have gained a few pounds since I broke my foot. And it's really starting to panic me ... And then I thought, well, wait a minute, this is my body, I'm almost 54."

Bertinelli's doctor warned her not to do anything to get her heart rate up during recovery. Since then Valerie has been hitting the gym again.
But the actress told "The Talk" on Wednesday, "Because I broke my foot three months ago and I've not been able to work out, the weight starts to creep up. Then, I started thinking, 'Why do I feel so much shame?' Because the cameras are on me? Because the paparazzi can't wait to get a picture of me looking like I've gained a few pounds. It's like, we have to take the shame out of it."

Bertinelli went on to say "The thing is, I still like to eat, and I'm going to eat. I think we all need to give each other a break, especially women. Let's leave each other alone."

Bertinelli revealed that she did give up martinis for Lent, "Jesus would be so proud!"


Jenny Craig spokespeople put out a statement saying, "Valerie Bertinelli spent seven successful years as a spokesperson for Jenny Craig. Valerie's success on the program served as an inspiration for others to make positive lifestyle changes, and we are very proud of our partnership. While she is no longer a brand spokesperson, we are big fans of Valerie and will always be here to support her. She is part of the Jenny Craig family and always will be."
