Mario Kart 8 Release Date 3Ds, Trailer, Characters Save WiiU? Nintendo’s Struggle Next-Generation Console May Have Hope

Mario Kart 8 may have a "possibility of turning the tide for Nintendo's not-quite-next-gen console" WiiU more than other titles, Complex.com opines.

Could it's highly-anticipated 3Ds, trailer and characters salvage the struggling system?

Facebook has purchased Nintendo for $16 billion on Tuesday, SocialNewsDaily.com reports, leaving many gamers wondering if Mario Kart 8 could include a release date social media application.

"Nintendo has always prided itself on being able to change with the times," Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said, according to the site.

"From a playing card company to toys to early electronic games to the biggest and best gaming consoles that ever existed. Partnering with Facebook allows us to transform once again and reach a whole new audience, the audience that plays crap like FarmVille."

Super Mario Kart 8 has arrived on the Nintendo eShop for Wii U and is priced at £5.49 in the United Kingdom, Digital Spy reports.

But pricing isn't all gamers are talking about.

Mario Kart 8 will make a "triumphant appearance on the WiiU Virtual Console" and gamers will experience its "intended glory," Nintendo Insider writes.

"For the uninitiated, Super Mario Kart is simply a go-kart racing game featuring Mario and pals who put items plucked from the Mushroom Kingdom to use whilst gunning for glory. Such ingredients help to make what is still widely regarded as one of the best party games to exist," the website also writes.

The Wii U Racing Wheel for Mario Kart 8 is now available for pre-order at GameStop locations just a few months before its release date, sparking rumors among gamers surrounding #Ds, characters and the possibility of a new trailer.

Nintendo has refuted rumors surrounding Mario Kart 8's release date, #ds, characters and trailers, IGN reports.

The original posting on Amazon's Mario Kart 8 product page in the US suggested that Nintendo's highly anticipated installment for Wii U will ship in "two to four weeks," IGN also reports.
