New Android Phones 2014: Lava Unveils Iris 20 Smartphone With Midrange Specs, Packs 4.7" qHD Display, Quad-Core CPU, 1GB RAM, 8MP Shooter, Priced At Around $250

New Android phones 2014: In a very competitive Android world, how can emerging manufacturers get the interest of consumers? Most people would answer that they need to get their devices as lowly-priced as possible.

However, that was the technique a couple of years ago, and while it certainly worked wonders for startups back then, it may not have the same effect now.

At this time, smartphone shoppers are not anymore concerned with just affordable or cheap pricing. They now also consider quality and software support, which are two crucial factors which allow them to think whether the device will still be relevant and functional in the long run.

That is what Lava aims as it launches a new midrange device.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Indian manufacturer has recently announced another member of its Iris Pro lineup, the Iris Pro 20.

Bearing similar specs with the flagship Iris Pro 30, the Pro 20 packs a slightly lower qHD (960 x 540) resolution in a 4.7-inch display. The Android-powered handset is also powered by a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, 4GB of internal memory, and 1GB of RAM.

Also on board is a 2,000mAh battery, a microSD card slot, dual-SIM support, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. We sure hope Lava would update it to Kitkat some time soon.

There is also the same 8-megapixel shooter at the back, while the front-cam of the Iris Pro 30 has been downgraded to only VGA in the Pro 20.

In the report, the midrange device will be priced at around 13,999 INR or about $250. With its decent specs and quality design, that price may be good enough for some people to buy the Lava Iris Pro 20.

How about you, do you think this midrange Android phone is a good deal?
