Install Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update On Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1; Test Firmware XXUDND5 Leaked For The 2012 GT-N8000 Tablet

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 users can now install Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

The specs list on GSM Arena for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 states that the 2012 tablet can be updated with the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. However, a test firmware based on Google's latest mobile operating system has been leaked, allowing the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 users to install Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

According to a post on International Business Times, the files for the test firmware, with build number N8000XXUDND5, which is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat update were shared by izap, member of XDA developers.

Particularly, the Android 4.4.2 test firmware for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is compatible with the GT-N8000 models of the tablet. It is currently available for user located in the Open Europe region.

Moreover, the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is expected to roll out for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 this May or June via Over-the-Air notification. But users who are interested to get the firmware as early as now can manually install Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update by following the detailed process posted on this IB Times report.  

Since this is an unofficial release, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 users are advised to be extra careful when installing the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update. Below are some of the requirements to satisfy before the installation process begins:

Make sure to create a backup of the important data and settings installed on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet using custom recovery tools such as ClockWorkMod or TWRP.

The battery level of the tablet should be 80 percent or more.

Enable USB Debugging Mode on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

Check the model number of the device. Go to Settings > About Device > Model Number to verify if it is one of the GT-N8000 units.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 should be factory unlocked and not locked to a particular network carrier.
