‘Batman Vs Superman’ Cast Rumors: Matt Damon As Aquaman? Best Pal Ben Affleck Has Requested Revisions For Script! Will Jason Bourne Accept A New Franchise Role?

After the confirmation of the "Justice League" movie, the next issue would be the characters. The latest rumor has Batman actor Ben Affleck's BFF Matt Damon diving in the franchise as "Aquaman."

Nobody actually waited for the go-signal, as cast rumors for "Batman vs. Superman" went through the roof and might as well have been for a Justice League movie. There was also the long-standing rumor that Justice League will immediately follow the "Man of Steel" sequel and they will be shot back to back.

It turns out that the rumor is very close to the truth. The studios would not confirm it as 'spot-on' yet. But Latino Review, which also claimed the scoop on the back-to-back, has declared that they have first dibs on the release date:

"May 5, 2017

Again, that is the rumor I am hearing. It makes sense. If the President of Production is officially going on the record by saying that the movie will indeed follow Batman Vs Superman then May 5, 2017 is a great date to plant a flag."

One of the actors that has long been envisioned to join the film is Matt Damon. It was anticipated since Ben Affleck officially joined the film last August that Damon would likely follow suit. But some skeptics are not too eager.

From Screenrant: "Damon generally keeps his distance from movie franchises, with such exceptions as the Jason Bourne movies (which he's also stopped working on); it's possible he would make an exception with Justice League, given that his pal Affleck seems to be influencing the project on multiple levels - judging by the hiring of Argo writer Chris Terrio to revise the Batman vs. Superman script. Then again, a younger star like Momoa is arguably the more logical choice to build an Aquaman franchise around; that the Game of Thrones alum would also help the DC-verse cast a wider demographic net, should also be taken into consideration."

Aquaman is a very imposing figure, and the former "Game of Thrones" star has that going for him. But an Affleck-Damon pairing (or at least being members of a team) may neutralize the negative reaction towards "Batfleck."

There is absolutely no confirmation of this at this time from the studio or Damon's side. We will find out soon enough. In the meantime, the "Batman Vs Superman" movie is standing its ground on the May 6, 2016 release date.
